Cleveland Clinic ICU
Increased Demand Met by Increased Capacity
Cleveland Clinic’s Weston, Florida campus was challenged by a sharp rise in demand for acute care services. To meet this growing need, a capital improvement plan was implemented to improve overall capacity through small to medium sized projects. Studio+ was challenged to design solutions.
Converting Offices into Beds
The addition to the ICU is located adjacent to the existing ICU suite on the second floor. The existing space contained a conference room, ICU waiting, and a cardio pulmonary offices. Conversion of these environments into acute spaces required extensive workflow phasing.
An Expansion for Post Anesthesia Care
A portion of the phasing was dedicated to designing and constructing an expansion of the hospital onto an existing first floor roof. This expansion added 11 additional post anesthesia care units (PACU) with no operational downtime.
