Gloria Kloter

AIA, NCARB, CODIA Project Architect

Hi, I’m Gloria! I’m a Registered Architect and Interior Designer in the State of Florida, and in the Dominican Republic with over 15 years of combined national and international experience. I have a Bachelor’s of Architecture from UASD, and a Masters of Architecture from PUCMM and Universidad de A Coruña, Spain. I came to live in Florida in 2015 and have been working at Studio+ since 2016 where I’m currently a Project Architect and have been working with healthcare, commercial, K-12, offices, assisted living and memory care facilities.

I have a passion for mentoring and helping others around me. From 2008 to 2015 I was a professor of Architecture and Design at the School of Design Altos De Chavon in Santo Domingo. This school is affiliated with the Parsons School of Design in NYC. I also volunteered with TECHO where I built houses for families who lived in extreme poverty in the Dominican Republic. I have recently been promoted as the NCARB’s Architect Licensing Advisor for AIA Florida after my efforts in supporting emerging professionals in their licensing journey. I was also honored the 2019 Sho-Ping Ching Women’s Leadership Summit Grant, a recognition to mid-career women architects who are advancing toward leadership roles and are making a positive impact within their communities.

I currently serve as the Associate Director of AIA Tampa Bay where I revived the Women in Architecture Tampa Bay and co-created the Young Architects Forum Tampa Bay, and I now serve as the Chair of both committees. For several seasons, I have also volunteered in the program ‘Architecture in Education’ at the Lee Elementary School, which is an 8-week program where architecture professionals teach 5th grade students about Architecture. I’m a member of CREW Tampa Bay, as well.

I was published by the Young Architect Blog by Michael Riscica with an inspirational video where I shared my journey as a foreign architect. You can see the video here. I was also invited to be a speaker at the Young Architect conference in Portland, Oregon, and I was a Panelist at the NCARB’s Architect Licensing Advisor Summit in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

On a personal level, I’m married to a wonderful Marine, Jeremy Kloter. We own a renovated 1925 historic Bungalow-style home in Ybor City where we live with our two puppies: Coco & Puff (Get it?!). We recently found out we’re expecting our first baby! We love spending time with family and friends, traveling, watching movies, going to the beach, and volunteering in our amazing church and our community.
