Florida Gulf Coast University – Dining and Boardwalk
A new lakefront boardwalk and dining hall encourages student interaction and outdoor activities.
A phased masterplan for the redevelopment of the university’s oldest residential district resulted in a mile-long paver boardwalk along the existing “beach” creating a pedestrian path connecting campus housing to their athletic facilities. A new 6,000 square foot casual-experience dining hall was built that created a mixture of indoor and outdoor spaces with fire pits, shaded pavilions, and walk-up to–go counters to encourage outdoor activity. Existing recreational facilities at the waterfront and volleyball courts were also upgraded as part of this effort.
