We create the
future by design

Our Vision Statement

We exist to provide integrated services which transform the lives of those we touch.

Our Mission Statement

OCT 2011 — Studio+ Founded

In 2011, Studio+ was founded by Damon Romanello with the goal of transforming lives through design. With eight employees working in a 500-square-foot office in Fort Myers, FL, Studio+ began paving ways for the future of design, beginning with healthcare.

APR 2012 — California Office Established

Jason Dontje, founding partner of the California office, established the client base and brand presence of Studio+ on the West Coast. The Irvine office focuses on education and healthcare projects in Southern California.

SEP 2013 — Tampa Office Established

With client needs expanding to the Tampa area and beyond, we strategically decided to open our Tampa office in Ybor City to better assist our clients locally and provide resources for their upcoming projects.

NOV 2015 — Techniq Surfaces Established

In response to industry need and a mission to further Studio+'s integrated services, Techniq Surfaces was founded. Our in-house team is able to procure and install flooring and ceilings, working in a deeply collaborative process with our design studio and our clients in order to provide a one-of-a-kind integrated services experience.

JAN 2017 — Studio+ Rebrand

In early 2017, Studio+ rebranded by implementing a new logo style, formalizing marketing materials and communications, and renaming Techniq to Studio+ Surfaces. Integrated services was formalized to unify the company as one and provide streamlined services for our clients. We now serve the healthcare, senior living, education, worship, and commercial segments and offer integrated services including architecture, interior design, lean design, and surfaces.

OCT 2017 — New Headquarters in Fort Myers, FL

After experiencing accelerated growth, Studio+ relocated to a redesigned space. This new office space allowed Studio+ and Studio+ Surfaces to come together under one roof, furthering the ability to collaborate and establish the integrated services approach.

JUL 2018 — Best of Business

Studio+ was awarded ‘Best Architecture Firm’ by Gulfshore Business. We are honored and sincerely grateful for the continued partnerships and support from our friends and clients, without whom this would not have been possible.

AUG 2018 — Sarasota Office Established

As demand for Studio+ services increases, our Sarasota office was established to provide a local point of contact for our clients and further expand our client base.

Josue "Josh" Jimenez

Project Manager

Hello, my name is Josue most of you know me as “Josh”.

Flooring has been second nature to me. I have been in the flooring business for over 25 years. I started working for my family owned business when I was 15 years old. To this day I thank my uncle for convincing me to never leave the business. It has taught me a great deal of resilience and patience. I always surrounded myself with people that would help me acquire more knowledge to help me expand my horizons. I believe a strong foundation leads to strong relationships. I believe in connecting bridges to build a strong city. Coming to Studio + was a great decision because I saw that I can accomplish exactly what I believe in.

I was born in Cuba and came when I was 6 years old. I grew up in Jamaica, Queens, and Miami, FL. I’m a baseball and football fan. The Yankees, NY Giants, and UM Hurricanes are my favorite teams. I love to travel. It helps that my wife works for Jet Blue!!!! We get to fly at no cost. I spend much of my time with my girls Isabella, 5; Jaylene, 13; Samantha, 14; and, Yesenia, 22. Even though they drive me crazy, my wife Melanie balances it all.

Randall Woods

Senior Project Coordinator

My name is Randall Woods. I am an architect in training with experience in civil, collegiate, sustainable, retail, senior living, and healthcare projects. I hold a Masters of Architecture, a Bachelor of Science in Architecture Studies, an Associate’s degree in History, and the LEED Green Associate certification. My passion is for sustainable architecture.

In my personal time I enjoy traveling, cooking, playing sports, watching sports, running, kayaking, watching movies, and laughing with family & friends. I completed my first marathon last year and do not plan on slowing down any time soon.

Nancy De La Vega

Architectural Designer

Hi, I’m Nancy! I’m new to Fort Myers and moved here to join the amazing team at Studio+. I graduated with a Master’s in Architecture from Florida International University in Miami, the city in which I was born and raised and spent most of my life until now. Although my education was in architecture, my experience provides me with knowledge in interior design, allowing me to think and design passionately with both parts in mind at all times.

I am the youngest of three children to my parents who immigrated from Puerto Rico (mother) and Cuba (father) when they were just barely in their teen years. I had never traveled outside of Florida until my first year of undergrad and was determined to travel as much as I could, eventually traveling to Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles, San Diego, Savannah, Atlanta, New York, and Las Vegas. Later in grad school, I took my first international flight on a two-week trip to Japan for Study Abroad where I was able to see amazing works by architects like Tadao Ando, Toyo Ito, and Kengo Kuma. For my thesis semester, I was fortunate to study abroad in Genoa, Italy and traveled through a total of eight countries in four months.

Aside from traveling, I enjoy spending time outdoors – hiking, camping, swimming, kayaking, riding a bike, and running with my dog, Courage (the Cowardly Dog, yes, just like the cartoon). I am also passionate about drawing and painting and love baking desserts mostly just to decorate them – what better than edible art!

Seth Koplin

General Manager - Sarasota

“When he worked, he really worked. But when he played, he really played.”-Dr. Seuss

Hi, I’m Seth, and I have the honor of being the General Manager for the Sarasota/Manatee Area for Studio+. I have lived in Sarasota for almost my entire life. I did live in Richmond, VA for high school. Then, I was off to college in Lexington, Kentucky at Transylvania University. After graduating from Transy, I married my wife. We lived a few years in Nashville before returning to our hometown of Sarasota.

My wife and I have one son, Eli. My hobbies include fishing, cooking, jewelry making, and spending time with my family. For the past few years, I have been very involved with my son’s rowing team the Sarasota Scullers Youth Rowing Program.

I am excited to help grow the Sarasota/Manatee Area!

Andrea Gil

Director of Business Operations | Associate Principal

Buenos Dias! I love the mornings, and futbol. Yes, Futbol! Not soccer. My name is Andrea and I am one of the original members of Studio+. I’m the chameleon of the office. I can safely say that I’ve done every job in the office, from CAD drawings, to RFPs, to daily business operations.

Nowadays, you will find me as a leader in the Front Office! Bookkeeping, travel arrangements, and event planning are my secondary tasks that I do to keep the office running day after day.

I was raised by a very strong woman, which is why I believe a woman can accomplish anything in this life. I moved from Colombia to Maryland when I was 19, and then decided cold weather wasn’t for me. I love living in Southwest Florida with my family.

And while I love spending time with my family, I also love screaming at futbol games on TV, Halloween Horror Nights, cooking, afternoon shots, and raising my “lil monkey.” One day he will be as gifted as Cristiano Ronaldo (he is already better looking).

I grew up with three architects in my family and never once imagined that I would end up working for an architectural firm. Studio+ is my home and I can’t wait to be a part of where we are going. The ride has been fun, but I know it is only getting better!

Ramon Cruz

PMP, VDC, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP Principal

Hi, I’m Ramon Cruz, Healthcare Principal for Studio+ and I have been lucky enough to be a part of this family.

One of my responsibilities in this role involves building and maintaining client relationships; understanding our community by getting involved and managing as well as leading the strategic growth for the Tampa office.

I have a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (5-year degree, Cum-Laude) and certified in Virtual Design and Construction from Stanford University – Center for Integrated Facility Engineering (CIFE). I have been in the AEC industry for more than 15 years with experience that includes all aspect of healthcare design and construction, ranging from small equipment renovations to very large healthcare campuses. I have been fortunate enough to have worked in many healthcare projects not only in the U.S., but in UAE, Africa, South America and Caribbean which had given me the opportunity to have a broader view to design approach and critical thinking based on cultural needs.

Aside from work, I love spending time with family/friends and giving back to the community as I strongly believe there’s nothing more rewarding in life than spending time with the people you love and with those in need. I also enjoy being involved in professional communities such as the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, Project Management Institute (PMI), American Institute of Architects (AIA), US Green Building Council (USGBC), among others.

I love all kind of sports! I also like traveling, reading, working out and spending time outdoors.

Vanessa Pena

ASID, NCIDQ Brand Ambassador | Associate Principal

My name is Vanessa Pena. I am a native of Barranquilla, Colombia. No, I don’t drink coffee, but I do have a Diet Coke once in awhile.

I am married, have a daughter, and two crazy dogs. I enjoy spending time with my family and have a deep passion for helping other people.

I graduated with a degree in Interior Design from Indian River State College, and hold an additional degree in Marketing from Florida Gulf Coast University. I regularly volunteer with the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

After joining Studio+ in 2013, I have had the opportunity to work on a wide array of projects, including healthcare and senior living environments. I am a licensed interior designer and enjoy working with lighting, color, and form to create spaces that improve the lives of patients and their families.

I look forward to meeting you!

Valerie Marino

Licensed ID, LEED AP Senior Interior Designer | Associate Principal

I am Valerie, and I’ve been practicing interior design for the past 15 years. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from the Ringling School of Art and Design, and have been licensed for 11 years now. 5 of those years have been with Studio+.

I have a great passion for impacting lives with what I do. I am constantly reminded and inspired by the Steve Jobs quote, “Design is not just what it looks and feels like—design is how it works.” I do whatever it takes to pass this passion on to my fellow designers as I help lead and mentor them.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and friends, creating memories with them wherever we go. My husband and I like to travel with our two boys. When we’re not on the move, you can find us going to movies on opening day as a family.

Patricia Rice-Spivey

AIA, ACHA, LEED AP, NCARB Vice President | Healthcare Practice Leader

I’m Patty, and I am a Healthcare Practice Leader and Principal for Studio+. I love being the “go-to” person for our clients and peers. I actually started my career in corporate marketing with a degree in psychology. I later incorporated that background into an architectural career, with a passion to design spaces that positively affect the way people feel.

I have an extensive portfolio of experience including all aspects of healthcare design, and have managed projects ranging from equipment renovations to $65 million hospital expansions. Throughout this experience, I’ve always fostered an innate sense of teamwork with project stakeholders, a culture of mentorship within the design studio, and a research mentality in order to discover ways to incorporate latest innovations into facilities.

I am involved with the Women in Architecture, providing guidance toward up-and-coming female architects, and am also a member of the National Association of Minority Architects, where I promote diversity in our field.

Outside of work, I love playing racquetball (although my knees hate me for it!) and traveling. I want to see as much of this planet as I can before I leave it!

Marty Fifer

Principal

Hello, my name is Marty Fifer and I am an architect in the California office. Since my mom, older sisters, and cousins worked in healthcare when I was a kid, I practically grew-up in hospitals and nursing homes which has led to my passion for designing healthcare facilities that are patient focused. I am also lean / six-sigma certified so I am always focused on continuous improvement initiatives for our clients and our project delivery processes.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two daughters in addition to running, biking, and hiking. I was born in Iowa, lived in Minnesota (huge Vikings Fan) since I was 10 and then moved to Arizona where I went to college (Arizona State University – GO Sun Devils!) and started my career, then moved to Texas for a few years and now live in Southern California.

Studio+ is an exciting firm and is providing great services so I look forward to contributing to its growth and success for many years to come!

Jose Valentin

Senior Project Manager

Hello! I’m Jose and I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. In 1978, my parents moved from New York to California, and I’ve been in this area for over 40 years now. My favorite thing to do is play in a Latin jazz band, and my instrument of choice is electric bass. Other hobbies I enjoy are drawing and hiking. I went to school at Los Harbor College and studied Architecture – I chose my major in high school when I took an architectural drafting class, and I’ve been hooked ever since! I have 30+ years of industry experience, including Orthopedic Institute for Children, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Humana Hospital, and Marana Health Care Center. Outside of work, I love spending time with my wife and six kids, my mom, brother, three sisters, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Tony Pacheco-Taylor

NCARB, LEED AP BD + C Senior Project Manager

I graduated with a degree in architecture from Cal Poly Pomona, and while in school I was lucky enough to study abroad in Italy and China. I have a license to practice architecture from the State of California.

I enjoy traveling, playing soccer, riding dirt bikes, and spending time with my family at my parents’ vineyard in Mexico.

I worked on educational projects for 6 years prior to coming to Studio+. I have been with Studio+ for three years now, working as a project manager and architect in Irvine, focusing on educational projects from conception through construction. I’m really looking forward to also expanding my knowledge of healthcare design.

Anthony Molèy

Senior Project Manager | General Manager

Hey! I’m Anthony. I lead the Studio+ Surface’s Tampa office. My professional background is Construction Management, Division 9 Interiors, Land Development and Real Estate investment.

Father of 3 wonderful young adult children and I am a grandfather! (Shhh! That’s just between you & I).

While I greatly enjoy life’s simple things like great food and chilling with family & friends. I’m also a HUGE adventure seeker. I’ve been blessed to have many interesting travel experiences around the world and through this great country.

Experiencing a diverse range of culture and people unlike myself, while eating their cuisine, contemplating random art, magnificent architecture and various forms of design; in unfamiliar lands outside my comfort zone, gives me exciting energy and learning opportunities that have expanded the boundary of my creative vision & thought. Gaining diverse knowledge & experiences have allowed me success in business and relationships I may have not otherwise been able to obtain without it.

I highly value my right & left-brain balance. Merging creative vision & analytical thought in equal portion is probably my greatest professional strength. My passions are learning, family, various arts, business, travel and numerous forms of design such as architecture, automotive, fashion & technology. (Tampa Bay Bucs & Manchester United Football get honorable passion mentions). I play several instruments, canvas paint and am bit of a photography nerd. Also, quite the cinema & music buff.

I truly enjoy being part of the Architecture & Construction industry and wouldn’t choose another career.

Pete Flores

Project Coordinator

My name is Pete and I’m a Project Coordinator here on the Surfaces side of Studio+. I’m originally from the Northeast, but have been a resident of Southwest Florida for 20 years. Outside of the office, I like to be outdoors and enjoy golfing and fishing whenever possible. When I’m at home, I like to cook, watch movies and spend time with family and friends.

I attended Florida Gulf Coast University and studied Kinesiology and Exercise Science. Outside of work, hockey is my passion. I am currently coaching the Florida Jr Blades U16 AAA team. In years past, I have coached youth, college and professional players in both a professional setting as well as a private skills coach. I’m a firm believer that “the only time success comes before work is in the dictionary.”

Jim Whyte

Project Superintendent

Hi, I’m Jim, Project Superintendent here at Studio+.

Prior to joining Studio+, I  owned and operated a commercial flooring company for over 20 years.  I bring to Studio+ my background of dedicated hard work, and “charm!”  I have completed multiple flooring projects in educational, medical, and retail facilities throughout the United States.

Former Disney-approved contractor, I was responsible for the organization and installation of hundreds of thousands of square yardage of carpet and vinyl.  My company was extremely valuable to Walmart, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  I ran 8 of my own crews, in multiple states.  I helped get 28 stores back up and running, to service those hit the hardest.  I know what it takes to get the job done!  Teamwork and communication is everything!  I believe that each job requires individual strategic planning and execution.  No two jobs will unfold identically.

I enjoy spending time with my family; 3 boys, 3 dogs, and my loving wife!  I enjoy boating, cooking, fishing, and vegetable gardening.  The White Mountains in the Fall or the sandbar in Islamorada are my two favorite places to escape to!

Go Noles!

Paul Pre-Genzer

Project Manager

Hi, I’m Paul.

I have over 50 years in the floor covering industry, encompassing many years as a manufacturers rep covering the Southeastern United States.  My experience is in all areas of floor covering including carpet, VC tile, ceramic tile, hardwood, and solid vinyl tile.

Prior to my career in flooring, I served in the US Navy where I completed two tours in Vietnam and spent two years as a US Navy Blue Angel.

I have now relocated back to my hometown of Fort Myers, Florida, and spend most of my time off work with my wife, Barbara, our 2 children, and 4 grandchildren.  I also coach Little League baseball in Fort Myers. Ironically, I started coaching my son in the same league 40 years ago.

Derek Blazer

Project Superintendent

Hi! I’m Derek, Project Superintendent at Studio+ Surfaces.

I am originally from Marengo, Illinois, but I moved to Florida four years ago because I love to be on the water. In my free time, if I’m not on the water, I like cooking out and fishing. I have 3 kids, one of which lives here in Florida with my only grandson. I enjoy spending a lot of time with. The rest of my family lives up north in Illinois or Wisconsin.

I have been in the flooring industry for thirty years and Studio+ is, by far, the best company I have ever worked for. I am excited to see how the company continues to grow!

Melissa Bradford

Project Manager

Hi, my name is Melissa!

I am a Project Manager in the Surfaces division here at Studio+. I spend my days dealing with flooring and making sure that the materials for projects are in the right place at the right time. I have been at Studio+ for nearly 2 years and couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else.

I am a native of the East coast having lived in Maine, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and now here in Florida. If I’m not working, you can probably find me outdoors with my dogs, riding horses, reading, or doing anything out on the water. I love all things blue: the color blue, blues music, blue crabs, and blue cheese.

Tara Cioffi

Business Operations Manager

Hi there. My name is Tara and I work for the Surfaces division of Studio+. More specifically, I work in the “front office” and am the contact for all things admin, finance, and accounting related. I work hands on with my team to develop financial forecasts all while managing the day to day administrative aspects of the business.

I was born and raised in Florida, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2015 with a B.A. in Communication. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, family, and friends. I am also a dog mom to my two fur babies, Gunner and Oakley.

Abby Combs

Business Operations Coordinator

Hi, I’m Abby! I’m originally from Haslett, Michigan, which is right next to Michigan State University, but I moved down to Florida to get away from the cold winters and the snow.

I work in the Front Office in an Administrator role on the Surfaces side. I help with the day to day operations to make things run more smoothly and efficiently.

I am currently training to become a helicopter pilot! In my free time I love going to the beach, hanging by my pool, watching movies and playing with my cat, Molly.

Logan Tackmann

Architectural Designer

I’m Logan. I was the second hire in the Construction Administration Department here at Studio+. Our role in projects comes in once construction has already started. We get to solve problems as they inevitably rise in construction and coordinate resources between teams.

I just moved to Fort Myers from Grand Rapids, MI. It was difficult living with winter for half of the year, so I traded it for summer all year long. I attended school at Ferris State University. I recently graduated with my BS in Architecture and Sustainability, as well a BS in Facilities Management.

I spend my spare time reading, watching movies, and playing golf. I also enjoy long sunsets and long walks on the beach; I also have a bit of a sarcastic sense of humor. Being from Beer City USA, I enjoy relaxing with a craft beer at the end of the day.

Stephanie McPherson

AIA, NCARB Construction Administrator

Hello, I am Stephanie! I’m a licensed architect and contractor with a passion for construction administration. I knew very early on I wanted to be an architect; I was always drawing, creating, took drafting in high school and never looked back. I attended The Ohio State University and The University of Miami. Once out in the corporate world I found my niche’ in managing construction.

I grew up in Miami and was a resident of Fort Myers from 2000 to 2010 where my focus was Institutional projects; K-12 and Higher Education. I relocated to Charleston, South Carolina in January of 2010 to work on the Boeing 787 Assembly Plant; where I lived for the past 8 years. This is where I met my husband, Robert (Mac) McPherson. We returned to Fort Myers in August of 2017 to be closer to family.

We love to travel and enjoy exploring new cities and countries as often as we can. In our spare time, you’ll find us out with our two dogs – Ginger and Marley, attending church, visiting family and friends, and trying every Mexican Restaurant in town.

Chandler Hilton

Architectural Designer

Hi, I’m Chandler and I am an Architectural Designer in the Fort Myers office. I am originally from a small town outside of Detroit, Michigan called Northville where I spent my entire life growing up! I’ve always had a love of architecture, from a young age I would draw floor plans and layouts in my free time, which eventually led to enrolling in drafting classes all throughout high school, and even attending an architecture camp one summer at Drexel University. After graduating from high school, I moved 500 miles away from home to Blacksburg, Virginia to attend Virginia Tech; and after completing their five-year program, I graduated in May of 2018 with my Bachelor of Architecture degree!

I find each discipline of architecture unique and interesting, and Healthcare is no exception. With each new project comes new challenges and possibilities, and tackling those challenges is one of my favorite parts of the job!

Jennifer Fong

AIA, CGC, NCARB Project Architect

Hi, I am Jennifer. Ever since I can remember, I have been immersed in some aspect of the built environment. I recall standing as a kid with my dad on an undeveloped site, learning about existing conditions and helping him plan and execute the next project! Now, 20 years into practicing architecture professionally, I cherish the moments I can help my husband on one of his fascinating constructions; and those times when our 3 daughters join, ask questions and even teach us something in the process!

In formal training, I learned that architecture is a type of ecosystem; and as such, it requires diversity to sustain life. That passion prompted me to nourish my already eclectic background into higher education in architecture, sociology, historic preservation; and then become licensed in Architecture and General Contracting. And yes, I am fluent in Spanish!

Inspired by such, I trust that our diverse backgrounds can cultivate extraordinary projects and phenomenal organisms. Let’s construct momentous ecosystems!

Tanner Rice

Architectural Designer

I’m Tanner! I am from a small town about forty minutes north of Cincinnati, called Franklin, OH. I just recently received my Bachelors of Architecture degree from Miami University (OH). Currently, I am an Architectural Designer here at Studio+, where I assist the team in the design and creation of construction documents/renderings that eventually lead to the amazing buildings you get to experience.

Creating is my true passion. Whether it is an architectural project here in the office, a painting at home, or a new design for the brand I am working on; I am always trying to create something. It allows me to put my mind on cruise control and not think about the stresses of the real world for a little bit. Besides being creative, I love being outside. I love to golf, play basketball, fish, go to the beach or anything around water will work for me.

Komal Nandanwar

Architectural Designer

‘We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.’ – Aristotle

I inherited structures in my genes; becoming an architect was not an option, but these words from Aristotle made it my first love. Hi, I’m Komal Nandanwar aka Dolly, and I graduated from Nagpur University, India with my Bachelor’s in Architecture. My passion to learn from the best then brought me to The University of Texas at Arlington, 9000 miles away from where my soul existed. At UTA, I received my Master’s in Architecture, which I believe has added more value and objectivity to my knowledge and skills.

Architecture has been my passion since the age of 7. My father is my inspiration; he designed our home and I still remember how excited and happy he was while doing it. I used to go with him on site and loved to see the design on paper coming alive. It was then that I knew what I wanted to do when I grow up.
Studio+ gave me an opportunity to learn more about planning and designing healthcare facilities. Working in healthcare touches so many souls and I know that we are making a significant difference in the lives of those we touch, by providing a comfortable ambiance in their most challenging times.
I truly must say I am proud to be part of a company which values their employees, encourages professional growth, and consider Studio+ one big happy family.

When not at work, I enjoy spending time exploring southwest Florida, learning different cultures, making new friends, cooking Indian food and doing yoga. I also love traveling and reconnecting with old friends and family.

Alexandra Ceravolo

Graduate Designer

Hi, I’m Alexandra Curbelo (soon to be Alexandra Ceravolo), and I’m a Texas born Florida grown girl. After moving to SWFL in 2008, I’m happy to call Cape Coral my home but will always keep a piece of Texas in my heart!

I bring a diverse background with having experience in new home construction, remodel design, residential design and high end residential design. I’m excited to use my experience while continuing to acquire new specialty skills to further my career in healthcare design. Fun fact, I first learned AutoCAD when I was majoring in mechanical and aeronautical engineering for designing robotics!

I have a genuine determination in finding creative solutions to make a positive impact and to improve the quality of work and life.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy working out, spending the day at the beach, traveling and spending time with my fur babies Sir Henry (a Boxer) and Achilles (a Rottweiler). In August 2018, I will be getting married to the love of my life, Justin Ceravolo who pushed me to follow my true dream of becoming an interior designer!

Christena Ellender

Interiors Coordinator

Hi, I am Christena. I grew up on the desert side of Washington State where I spent a lot of my childhood playing sports and camping on Mount Rainier. My parents loved to travel, and because of this we moved around to 5 different states. This experience cultivated my ability to see and understand others’ perspectives and ideas, which has helped me in my career.

I graduated from The Institute of Interior Design through Southwest Florida College with my BA of Interior Architecture and Design. In addition, I earned my Kitchen and Bath Certificate from NKBA. I have specialized in custom cabinetry for 5 years before transitioning over to health care design with Studio+. This transition has allowed me to be blessed with the opportunity to marry my two passions of interior design and health and wellness.

When I am not working, you can most likely find me being active. I enjoy running, CrossFit, snowboarding, and basically anything outdoors. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family and friends. At the end of the day, you can find me snuggling on the sofa with my cats and drinking a nice glass of wine.

Paul Cooper

Interior Designer

My name is Paul Cooper. I grew up in a small suburb of Dayton, Ohio. I attended one of the most competitive interior design schools in the country at the University of Cincinnati, where I received a 5-year Bachelor of Science degree. One of my fondest memories was my internship in Cambridge, Massachusetts with The Architects Collaborative founded by Walter Gropius. I have also taught as an adjunct professor at Ringling College of Art & Design and served in several board member positions with IIDA Florida Central Chapter including President.

Today, I advocate on behalf Florida licensed interior designers, 90% of whom are women and minority owned businesses, to protect our ability to practice commercial interior design in the public realm. I play an active role in legislative affairs to educate the public of the rigor and discipline demanded of licensed professionals and even testified in Tallahassee to oppose deregulation of our industry.

Challenged to balance function with aesthetics, I value a holistic approach to the patient and staff experience for positive healthcare design outcomes. At the end of the day I know what I do has the potential to impact those who are most vulnerable in a dignified manner.

Karla Portocarrero

Project Coordinator

¡Hola! I’m Karla Michelle and I’m originally from “La Isla del Encanto”, Puerto Rico. Call me a creative person, an architect in training, a graphic designer to put it simple, I love to create. I have a bachelor’s degree in general science from the University of Puerto Rico and a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico. I have a great portfolio in graphic design, including logos, branding, illustrations and more. Currently I am a Project Coordinator here at Studio+, but sometimes I help the Marketing Department with my graphics design knowledge and skills.

Outside work you can find me with my beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer called Olivia, which I love with all my heart. Inspired for the love of pets I have created my own brand of pet accessories and furniture, called Pet Property. Co.

Maria Villa

Intl. Assoc. AIA, CPNAA Project Coordinator

Born in Santa Marta, Colombia, I am an Architect with studies in Plastic Arts. I also earned an Associate Degrees in Computer Drafting/ Design and Lead Auditor based on Quality, Environment, and Occupational Health and Safety Management. I am currently working at Studio+ in Fort Myers, Florida, on Architecture/Interior Design.

I am a mother of two children who bring color into my life every single day. We love enjoying special moment’s together, cooking, traveling, creating art and enjoying the passion for playing soccer.

I enjoy creating a parallel between our imagination and the world in which we live, the fascination with functional art of design, and the enthusiasm for solving practical problems. I value working with other people to integrate spaces, depending on their function and needs. I enjoy achieving a clean design that integrates space with the exterior, which is a fundamental essence of my creative style. A pencil, sharpener, eraser and ruler were the essential tools when I began in the drafting world… Now my favorite tools are the variety of software available that help me create outstanding work.

The Inspiration is so simple……just drawing your thinking!

Madison Grooms

Interiors Coordinator

Hi there! I’m Madi, cat mom, foodie, and fashion lover.

I have always had a passion for art, but really became interested in Interior Design in high school. I took the Interior Design Elective all four years of my high school career and quickly decided then on my life path. I graduated with a BFA in Interior Design from IADT and first started with Studio+ as an Interiors Intern.

In my free time you can find me lounging at the beach with a margarita in hand, implementing my life mantra “exercise for extra fries”, or cat napping with my fur baby Kevin.

Keith Schutter

Senior Project Coordinator

I started my career in 1985, after attending a local college in Pennsylvania and completing a two-year program for both commercial art and architectural technologies. Showing my age, I learned and worked on a drafting board with pencil, ink and velum for a few years, adapting and changing to AutoCAD. My first job was very unique, I designed and supervised construction of stadium concert stages. Yes, for large national tours, like Madonna, Genesis, Van Halen, Pink Floyd and many more. For eleven years, I was able to learn, travel North America, and meet many different types of people and artists.

Once I learned my wife was going to have our daughter, I decided to make a change and joined a firm as a draftsman working on D.O.D. projects. These projects were with the Navy, Army, and Coast Guard where I learned a lot about detailing, construction administration, and processes for submissions.
Over the next few years, I decided to start my own design/drafting business. This was an eye-opening event in our lives, learning how and what to do to keep a business open and operating. This was an opportunity that worked well for myself and our family at the time, but after eleven years, I was approached from another firm about joining their team. With this opportunity, I was back to D.O.D. projects full time. I stayed with this firm until my wife and I decided to relocate to Florida.

Upon arrival in Florida, I was approached by a large firm to work within their Healthcare Division. This was a great opportunity to learn healthcare. Since then, I have joined Studio+, hoping to pass on some of my knowledge on how to put a drawing package together. My goal is to teach the younger staff on how to detail areas of the building and why things are done certain ways, but also showing different options to do the same task.

My hobbies include fishing, riding my motorcycle, or working around the house. Yes, working around the house, which I find relaxing…sounds crazy!

Tanya Bentz

Marketing Manager

Hey there, I’m Tanya! I’m originally from the Greater Philadelphia area. I’ve been loving the beach life here in Florida the last two years, but I do crave the ‘real deal’ cheesesteaks, hoagies, and pierogis from PA! I graduated from Temple University with a BBA in Marketing and I have that Northeast mentality where we work hard and get things done fast – and accurately. No time to wait around!! It’s rewarding having a job in marketing where creativity, writing and design mix with business strategy and all four contribute to our company’s success. I really enjoy working for Studio+ and being surrounded by all the incredibly talented architects and designers – interior design is fascinating to me.

Outside of work life, you’ll find me on Sanibel Island relaxing, doing something DIY at home, or chillin’ in the air conditioning with my 1-year old Bernese Mountain Dog named Phil. My boyfriend and I love good food and pretend (emphasis on pretend) to be foodies and enjoy the finer things in life 😉 tasting different red wine and craft beer and trying every new restaurant in town. Let me know any local recommendations to try!

Marlene Tenorio

Business Operations Coordinator

Hi there! I’m Marlene and I just graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a BS in Marketing. I moved here 3 years ago, from the suburbs of Chicago. I always had the idea of moving back home, but after experiencing my first winter without snow, shoveling, or black ice I knew I never wanted to go back!

You’ll see me in the front office at Studio+ doing business operations tasks to help us run efficiently. I’m just trying to find my way in this crazy ride we call life. I’m always up for an adventure which could be finding a new recipe to try, running a new trail, or losing my voice at a sporting event. I’m excited to find out what this new adventure at Studio+ will bring me!

Eric Prefontaine

Marketing Coordinator

I’m Eric, and I’m a Marketing Coordinator for Studio+. A lot of my time at the office is spent collaborating with other team members and helping with their projects from a marketing perspective.

Before moving to Fort Myers, I spent most of my life growing up in Coral Springs, Florida. Currently, I’m a full-time student at Florida Gulf Coast University pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in communication and marketing.

When I’m not at the office or in the library you can usually find me grabbing a drink with my friends, playing hockey or binge-watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Also, I have a sphynx named Jacques who’s very high maintenance.

Sandra Troffer

AIA, NCARB Project Manager | Associate

You can call me Sandy. I’m an observer, a morning bird, a baker, a traveler, an architect in training, and—with a French press in hand—a coffee enthusiast.

I’ve lived in many places, and visited many more. I was raised in Maryland, which means I’m always up for crabs and corn. My formal architectural education was completed at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in upstate New York, with time studying abroad in Shanghai, China. After graduation, I’ve lived and worked in Washington DC, Kazakhstan, and now I’m home with Studio+ in Florida.

Having lived in foreign countries for 6 years, and having gone without speaking the native language prior to arriving, I’ve developed some serious skill in observing and listening. I really value other’s views.

I think the best work comes from teams of people with diverse talents and perspectives. I believe a good argument can and should lead to learning on both sides, and I love collaborating with people who think differently than I do for this reason.

So, if you need a production specialist and someone you can go to if you need to Get. It. Done. Right.—I’m the one to call!

Gloria Kloter

Project Coordinator

I am Gloria, and I’m a foreign licensed architect from the Dominican Republic. I’m a CODIA and an Int’l. Assoc. AIA. I have a Bachelors of Architecture from the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo and a Masters of Architecture with an emphasis in Architecture of Interiors with a double degree from the Universidade Da Coruna of Spain, and the Pontificia Universidad Catolica, Madre y Maestra.

I’ve worked in many fields over the past 12 years. I began with urban design, government work, and residential projects, and later moved to commercial, educational, and landscaping projects. I operated my own firm in the Dominican Republic, which specialized in commercial and hospitality interior architecture.

With my project A Multifunctional Furniture, I won 1st place in the International Workshop “Wood Space” held at the Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) and I’ve been interviewed for multiple articles in the Dominican newspaper HOY regarding my design ideas.

I’m married to a wonderful Marine, Jeremy Kloter, who loves volunteering with me at church, our community, and other countries in need like Haiti. We love going to church, watching movies, going to the beach, dancing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Recently we added a new member to our family, our little puppy girl Coco, who brings even more joy to our lives!

Celso Vargas

LEED Green Associate Senior Project Coordinator

Even though it is hard to fully comprehend me through this quick bio, I will give you a briefing on what I consider are my core values to help you get an idea of who I am.

I graduated from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico with a BA in Architecture. Most people do not know that my initial academic pursuit was mechanical engineering, which I studied for 2 years before switching to what I consider my skilled passion today: architecture.

But the thing I enjoy most is spending time with my family, which I value above and beyond everything… even work! I enjoy it all, from listening to my 94 year old grandma repeatedly explaining how things were done when she grew up to me to repeatedly teaching my 2 year old daughter how things were done when I grew up.

Since joining Studio+, I have learned to enjoy long walks on the beach and candle-lit dinners. All joking aside, I truly must say I’m proud to be part of a company that creates a balance between the things I value and integrates them in a respectful way—the personal, my family, and the professional, my career.

Nathalie White

Project Manager

Hello, I’m Nathalie! I fell in love with design the first time I picked up a paint brush, and still believe to this day that art and architecture are inseparable. In the 6th grade, I was drawing a floor plan for the house of my dreams and realized that I wanted to commit my future to architecture.

I attended the University of Florida and graduated with a degree in architecture. Go Gators!

My life’s motto is to keep things simple, and to never stop learning. There is so much to learn from different environments, cultures, and people from around the world—that’s why I’m so passionate about traveling and exploring. Florida is a great home base for exploration, as we are so close to beautiful beaches and diverse flora and fauna.

My focus recently has been on senior living and senior care projects, but I’ve worked on high-end residential, commercial, and healthcare projects in the past. Regardless of scope or typology, every project has a unique narrative and it is my mission to tell that story.

I find happiness in capturing moments with my camera, drinking a good cup of coffee, exploring art museums, and planning my next trip. I have a personal goal to visit all of our country’s major national parks by 2025!

Rachel Thomas

Assoc. AIA, LEED GA Project Manager | Associate Principal

My name is Rachel. I am an Associate Principal with Studio + and have been with the company for over 5 years now. Each day is a new opportunity to drive innovation and collaborate with inspiring team members, project partners and clients.

Like Studio+, I am driven by positivity and passion. I am a graduate of the University of Miami []_[] and am a positively passionate Hurricanes fan!

I am also very passionate about the design and construction process. Outside of the office, my travels have taken me to some beautiful cities around the world and have given me the opportunity to bask in beautiful and diverse architecture. When I travel to a new place, my instinct is to find the most delicious local food and the architectural gems of that place.

Carlos Marcet

AIA, ACHA, LEED AP Senior Healthcare Architect

I was born in Cuba and immigrated to Florida with my family as a young boy. I grew up on the shores of the Indian River Lagoon in East Central Florida, and witnessed nearly all the launches of Saturn V and the Space Shuttle programs from the Kennedy Space Center. After graduating high school, I attended and graduated the University of Florida with degrees in architecture.

Since the beginning of my career, my passion has been focused on planning and designing healthcare facilities. I now have over three decades of working with national healthcare design firms on a broad spectrum of projects.

My daily work is mindful of sustainable, evidence-based design and lean operations, and I always seek to understand the perspective of the people ultimately using the spaces.

When I’m not at work, I spend time with my family on the water, either on the beach or fishing. I am married to my sweetheart Maite Marcet, who is also educated and trained as an architect. We’re raising our two children Lucas, 13, and Elsa, 10. I also have two older children, Sebastian, who is a chef, and Christopher, who is a computer animator. I also have a granddaughter, Sarah Ann.

Mike Lendino

Chief Financial Officer

I’m Mike. I am that guy who wakes up at 3:30 AM every single day—the fresh face most people see when they walk into the office each morning.

I surround myself with people who are smarter than me knowing that a strong team will always outperform an individual. I play hockey, bowling (I have one perfect game to date), and golf. I like to think of our business as a sports franchise, and I always strive to win championships instead of just making the playoffs.

I’m one of the original Studio+ team members. I tend to get along with everyone I meet, and am talented at bringing good people together to accomplish a common goal.

Outside of playing sports, I spend most my time with my wife and daughter (both are named Hanna), and our cats.

Mathew Nelson

Projects Coordinator

I started at Studio+ back in 2013. I am a draftsman by trade, with mostly Healthcare experience. I always have my projects out on time and on budget.

I’m also the office handyman. Whether it is mounting art, painting, patching holes, transforming old doors into chalkboards, or mounting white boards on walls, I make sure the job gets done.

I fill most of my time with my family, they come first. Beyond that, I enjoy working with my hands. Woodworking and any type of restoration work are a big passion of mine.

“The true delight is in the finding out rather in the knowing” — Isaac Asimov

Mark Shannon

Senior Project Manager | Associate Principal

Hello, I’m Mark, and I’ve been lucky enough to be counted among one of the original members of the team that took the leap and helped start Studio+. My time and involvement here has not only helped the company grow—it has also pushed my career forward in ways I could not imagine and has improved me as a person.

I have just over 9 years of experience in healthcare design, construction, and project management. My experience serving in the military provided me with skills that ensure great detail orientation in projects.

I love Crossfit, obstacle course races, and exercising. I can never get my fill of adventure and outdoor activities such as paddle boarding, hiking, and mountain biking. I’m also an avid Jeep enthusiast.

I enjoy spending time with my son fishing, playing video games, and helping him grow up to be a good man.

Julin An

Interior Design Manager

Hi! I’m Julin, pronounced “Juleen.” I’m usually very smiley and I love to be around laughter and cheesy humor.

I graduated with my BA in Interior Design from Purdue University with a minor in Organizational Leadership Studies. All my life, I’ve had an urge to stay busy with my time and seek out work experience. This led to experiencing a few areas of the design industry. My work has included working abroad in international hospitality design, commercial office design, high-end residential design , historic preservation, and now healthcare!

I have a keen interest in international relations and am fascinated with cultural differences. I watch a lot of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern (he helps fulfill that type of social exposure). I love traveling and reconnecting with old family and friends while indulging in tasty foods. I also have an undying love for shoes.

Outside of work, I am an active member of CREW Tampa Bay and will be serving on the Board of Directors for 2017-18 to support the industry of commercial real estate.

Jaclyn Arcy

Director of Strategic Initiatives

I’m Jackie. I champion Studio+ Integrated Services and lead strategic initiatives for our Surfaces division. I connect our designers with our flooring teams – bringing an interior design perspective to the dealer side and pricing/install guidance to the design side. My goal is to create an industry standard with Studio+ projects – to capture the synergies of architecture, interiors, flooring and ceilings within one company, coordinated from day one, delivering the best value and execution to the client.

I am an analytical thinker who thrives in a creative environment. I studied Economics at Harvard and Interior Architecture at Parsons. My favorite aspect of design is creative problem solving. I feed off of challenges that force me to expand my knowledge base and collaborate as a team to find the solution.

I rarely sit still. I love seeing new parts of the world (I’ve visited 30 countries and counting), cooking and being outdoors as much as possible. When I’m not in the office, you can find me scuba diving, cycling, running or soaking up sun at the beach with my dogs.

Gennifer Hunt

Interior Design Manager

I’m Gennifer, and I’ve been practicing design for a little over 8 years now. I have been heavily focused in healthcare design specifically. Over my career, I’ve found myself most passionate about designing facilities for pediatric care.

While I lean towards a contemporary design style, I do whatever I can to assure clients that they will ultimately receive design that speaks their language. In addition to the interiors work I do here at Studio+, I also enjoy working on 3D renderings.

I love to take pictures and paint, but more than anything, I love spending time with my family.

Dave Tran

Project Coordinator

“Never looking back or too far in front of me. The present is a gift and I just want to be.” — Common

As this quote implies, I don’t like going backwards or always moving forward. Instead, I enjoy the present. I think of myself as part of the new school. The focus in the built environment today is about the feeling that a space can accentuate to an audience, and it has become just as important as its function. My theory about architecture changes from time to time, but presently I see the parallels of music and the architectural world. I enjoy all genres of music from rap to rock, but I’ve always been interested in the culture of hip-hop. Like music, architecture can be the voice of a culture.

My projects outside of work consist of exploring my mind and my curiosity. Whether it is drawing, photography, inventing, researching the physical environment, or creating animations, I am always practicing to be more creative. This work I do with my design name: LotusNova. I aspire to be a creative professional and will soon share with the world my passion.

Christopher Ressler

Assoc. AIA, LEED AP BD + C Principal

My name is Chris Ressler and I ended up in architecture due to a clerical error made by my college’s Admissions Office.

Now I have a Master’s in Architecture from Virginia Tech and degrees in computer science and art from the College of William and Mary. I’ve been lucky enough to be recognized as the AIA Associate Member of the Year in Florida, the USGBC SWFL Member of the Year, and a Gulfshore Business “40 Under 40.”

I’ve also spent time serving as chair of several organizations including our local USGBC chapter, a pedestrian focused development 401c3, and a government advisory board. I’ve worked at Studio+ since Day One, where I’ve designed and managed projects of all shapes and sizes. These days, I am responsible for supporting Lee Health as they grow and expand their five hospitals in Southwest Florida.

In my spare time, I brew terrible beer, seek out the most interesting restaurants I can find, and explore new ways to annoy my wife and French bulldogs.

Carmen Ho

RID, CHID, LEED AP BD+C, EDAC Quality Manager

My mission as a Quality Manager at Studio+ is to work collaboratively with all departments to develop and operate a comprehensive quality management system as well as maintaining the system in a healthy manner.  Our ultimate goal is to maintain a consistently high standard in our services and products being delivered to our valued clients.

Earning the CHID credential enables me to understand the rigorous healthcare environment that serves each unique user, and allows me to collaborate with our healthcare design team efficiently. My believe in positive outcomes as a result of a healthy team atmosphere and spirit in teamwork and team effort is further evidenced in my job.  My job gives me the gratification by witnessing our ability to “transform the lives of those we touch” – the commitment of Studio+.

Beside enjoying my challenges job, travelling gives me eye-opening experience especially in different building structure in other countries. To achieve balance between work and life: I treasure family time, and find pleasure spending time with friends while enjoying good food and wine. I also appreciate the gorgeous operas and musicals.

Brianna Olsen

Business Operations Manager | Associate

Hiya—my name is Brianna, and I’m not an architect or designer. Come to think of it, I am not much of a sketch artist either, but I know talent when I see it. That’s why you’ll find me up front—the Front Office, that is. It’s where I spend most of my days.

I work mainly with numbers. Most people find numbers to be daunting, but what they don’t know is that numbers carry energy. Positive numbers carry good energy and negative ones carry poor energy. We’ve grown accustomed to positive energy, and no, I am not a yogi—no Namaste.

So when people need to find out the future of a company, they can call me in. I don’t just show numbers, I explain what they mean by forecasting revenues, analyzing trends, and implementing strategies. I don’t believe in hunches and I don’t like failing, but I do take risks in order to find answers.

Creativity, vision, and unrelenting passion are just some of the qualities that drive our firm forward. Like I said earlier, I’m not a designer, but I love being a part of a company that is full of them.

Clarry Miller

General Manager

I grew up in a very small town outside of Chicago, Illinois. My family, including my Dad, brother, uncles, and cousins, were all in the flooring business, so it was a natural decision to follow the tradition. I moved my family to Southwest Florida in 2000 and began a career in both residential and commercial flooring here.

I would like my time here at Studio+ Surfaces to be highlighted with our effort to elevate the quality of our industries’ performance. I look forward to training a new generation of flooring installation specialists.

When taking a break from flooring, I enjoy fishing, friends, and playing the drums in my band.

Jason Dontje

NCARB, LEED AP BD + C Principal

Other than my favorite hobby of Architecture, I also enjoy activities on or near any body of water: fishing, body boarding, and boating most especially. I have an affinity for boats and originally had aspirations to become a Naval Architect prior to deciding on Building Architecture because of my dad’s involvement in the construction industry.

I am originally from Michigan and closely follow every Detroit sports team. My Saturdays during the fall are spent watching college football. I lead our Irvine studio and am accountable for all operations and design in our Southern California offices.

Damon Romanello

Chief Executive Officer

My name is Damon Romanello. I’m the CEO of Studio+, and I never stop moving. I founded Studio+ in 2011, and since then have taken a committed and engaged approach to lead the strategic growth of Studio+ and its affiliated companies.

I founded this company with a vision that we still follow to this day: transforming lives through our company’s work. We accomplish this by promoting process-driven design and committing daily to continuous improvement.

Throughout my career, I’ve planned and led healthcare teams domestically and internationally on a diverse range of work. I’ve spoken nationally on lean operations, destination healthcare, and reverse innovation.

When I am not at work, I split my time between traveling, cooking (I love cooking paella on the Big Green Egg), and spending time with my wife and children boating, fishing, or doing anything at all involving saltwater.

Tanmay Sabharwal

Architectural Designer

Hello everyone. This is Tanmay, a recent international addition to the vibrant team at Studio+ Irvine. Hailing from the other side of the world, [Mumbai, India] I look forward to bringing in with me flavors and cultures of the East.

I’d like to consider myself a contemplator, one who wishes to question most of the mundane conventions and prejudices that exist in the society we live in. With big dreams and even bigger conviction, I look forward to seeing myself develop as a professional that could aid in initiating a positive CHANGE in the world. On a lighter note, I play a few Classical Indian percussions, have represented my School/ College in National Level Cricket and was recently recognized with Thesis Honors for my exposition on Olympics. Huge Foodie at heart, I like to spend part of the day either on my bed or at a restaurant.

A recent graduate from the Savannah College of Art & Design [M-ARCH] and a humble admirer of the profession since as far as I can remember, my next aim is to learn how buildings come together in real life and Studio+ seemed the perfect start for me in this journey.

Jim Turnbull

Estimator

Hi, my name is Jim Turnbull and I’m an estimator for Studio + Surfaces. I’m originally from Youngstown, Ohio, and I’ve lived in SW Florida for the last 12 years.

My career in flooring started when I became an installer right out of high school. I’ve had just about every job associated with the flooring business, from doing the takeoff through the installation and everything in between. You name it I’ve done it. I have 30 plus years in the business and enjoy continuing my education by working with the architects and designers here at Studio+.

In my spare time I like to golf, be in the Gulf, and spend time with friends and family. I have a wife, son, and a French bulldog with a bad disposition.

Lauren Mosher

Architectural Intern

Hi there! My name is Lauren and currently, I am an Architectural Intern here at Studio+. I’m not one of those people who knew exactly what they wanted to do when they were little; I decided to change my major multiple times and I finally came across architecture my junior year of college and that’s when I knew I found my niche.

I was born and raised in Tampa, FL and I have yet to leave so that should tell you how great of a place it is to live. I previously attended the University of Tampa for part of my undergraduate degree and am now halfway through my master’s degree in architecture at the University of South Florida…Go Bulls!

I am very passionate about God, my family, my pets (especially my kitten Kodak), traveling, and just getting the most out of life. Hockey and college football are also a huge part of my life, my teams being the Tampa Bay Lightning and Michigan Wolverines. In my free time, I like going to the beach, binge-watching shows and going to Universal Studios, since I am an annual passholder.

Life is great, and I couldn’t be happier working for such an amazing company!
