Sandra Cisneros Learning Academy

This 98,000 square foot project is a new Kindergarten through Eighth grade campus for Camino Nuevo Charter School, featuring 35 classrooms, a library, a multi-purpose room, and a full kitchen.

The school is constructed on a steeply sloping site in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles and includes a full underground parking structure. The design theme is based upon Brio blocks and is intended to create the atmosphere of an educational village scaled for small children.
Partnering with the City of Los Angeles, a 2,500 square foot neighborhood senior center was added to the scope early on. The project also achieved a CHPS score of 35.
